A Special Statement regarding the reopening of
Stella, Stella Pantry and Covid-19


The health and safety of our guests, as well as our family of employees, is the No. 1 priority for Stella at the Cedar House Sport Hotel. As a fixture in the Truckee community for over 14 years, it is our responsibility to be proactive in challenging times.

Stella at Cedar House is reopening to the general public May 28th, 2020.  Our dining room and garden patios will be open Thursday thru Sunday from 5Pm to 9PM each week.  We will be accepting reservations and any walkins that we accommodate must adhere to all social distancing guidelines including no gatherings and the possible request to wait in your car until a table can be made ready.  Table layout in the dining room and patio areas meet the physical distancing requirements of 6 feet of separation.  Stella Pantry will expand to three days of pick up service – Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 3PM to 5PM.  You will continue to order Stella Pantry online only. 

Currently, we are following guidance and recommendations from the Nevada County Health Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), while continuing to evaluate our standard procedures. Our restaurant and food service have always met the food safety and sanitation standards, so these protocols are already in place, and we will continue to maintain the highest possible standards in service and product quality.

However, as we continue to monitor current events, we are increasing these protocols, with additional layers of caution and mindfulness, to provide peace of mind to our guests and kitchen team members.

These changes include:

  • Increasing the frequency of cleaning practices and decontamination procedures within our restaurant, dining room, the Cedar House front bar lobby and support offices.
  • Limiting guest interaction with shared utensils and dishes where applicable. There will be NO Self Service Station. Some of our prior food services have been revised in light of new regulations. 
  • Increased presence and use of hand sanitizers and soap.
  • Ensuring that our staff are continuously updated and educated on preventative measures outlined by Nevada County Health Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). 
  • Daily pre-work symptom checks for every staff member before he or she begins work
  • Providing cloth face covers for all kitchen staff members.  
  • Providing specific gloves for kitchen staff to wear while serving our guests, in addition to the gloves that we always wear to handle ready to eat foods.
  • The use of signage and markings to reinforce the important principle of appropriate physical distancing when we have the opportunity. 

Additionally, all staff members have been advised not to report to work and to seek medical attention if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms or have come into contact with affected individuals.

We take this responsibility very seriously and will continue to monitor expert recommendations and implement enhanced practices as necessary.
